As reported by ESPNcricinfo, Chandika Hathurusingha has been roped in by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) as the Test and ODI head coach of the side.

Although the announcement is yet to be made, Hathurusingha has latestly left his job at New South Wales (NSW) which more or less confirms the authenticity of the report.

As shared by the BCB president Nazmul Hassan, an official statement can be expected by February 18-20. Hathurusingha will likely replace Bangladesh's outwent Test and ODI head honcho Russell Domingo, while S Sriram will stay in position as the T20I coach of the side.

Speaking on the 54-year-old's departure, the NSW head of male cricket Michael Klinger highlighted the impact made by Hathurusingha.

"Chandi has made a wonderful contribution to Cricket NSW, the Blues and Sydney Thunder over the last couple of years and we are sad to see him go. But with that in mind, we totally understand his desire to seek a coaching role internationally and we wish him all the best in the next chapter of his coaching career."

This will not be Hathurusingha's first stint with Bangladesh as he served as the head coach of the team from 2014-17. Before being appointed by NSW, he also joined Sri Lanka in the head coach's capacity.
