The big Test for England is against the Australians: David Gower on the 'Bazball' approach

The aggressive way of playing Test cricket, or the 'Bazball' approach, has re-invented the way people look at Test cricket now.

It won't be an understatement to say that Ben Stokes and Brendon McCullum have revolutionised the longest format of the game and the team has reaped rewards for it. They won series against New Zealand, India, South Africa, and Pakistan, and look unstoppable at the moment.

However, former England cricketer, David Gower reckons that England's biggest test will be against Australia, during the upcoming Ashes series.

Gower has warned England that Australia have a really good bowling attack, and they'll provide a stern test for the home team batters.

“The big test to Bazball is against the Australians, the chance that we could do it or not comes up in the next few months. It is going to be interesting. Australia have a very strong bowling attack and have their own exciting batters and have their own positive approach to the game," Gower said to Gulf News.

“England will start feeling positive about the chances, that’s the whole culture. They are frightened of losing again because they back themselves to keep winning elsewhere.”

Just like England, Australia have had a stellar 2022. They defeated Pakistan in their own backyard and had an easy outing against both West Indies and South Africa in home Test series.

The much-awaited Ashes series begins from June 16.
