Ever since it was announced that Rishabh Pant was ruled out for the majority of 2023 due to his accident, one question popped up in everyone's mind - Who will keep wickets for India in Tests?

With the Border-Gavaskar series approaching fast, this question became a hot topic. There were three major candidates for this post - KS Bharat, Ishan Kishan, and KL Rahul. Each bring in something different to this Indian Test team, and the team management had a big selection debacle.

However, it seems that the debate has finally come to an end. As per a report by InsideSport, KS Bharat is all set to receive his debut cap after 1.5 years of waiting.

KL Rahul, who is apparently the vice-captain of the Test team has never kept wickets in the longest format of the game, and both Rahul Dravid and Rohit Sharma have decided to give a chance to KS Bharat.

“KL has had number of injuries in the last one year or so. It’s not ideal for him to keep wickets in Tests. Test requires specialist keepers. There are two in the team in Bharat and Ishan. It’s up to the team management to decide who to pick,” a senior BCCI official told InsideSport.

The official also stated that the team management wants a specialist keeper in Test format, and as a result, Bharat is in contention to make his India debut.

KS Bharat has an impressive record in first-class cricket. He has played 86 matches, and has accumulated 4707 runs, at an average of 37.95.
