The Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2026 mega auction took place on Thursday in New Delhi, and it turned out to be an exciting event. A total of 277 players were up for grabs as all five teams rebuilt their squads almost from scratch.
They were allowed to keep only a handful of players, which meant most teams had to spend big to strengthen their line-ups. While India’s star all-rounder Deepti Sharma became the most expensive player overall, the auction also drew attention for the high prices paid for uncapped players, cricketers who have not yet played for the national team.
The biggest headline among uncapped players was Anushka Sharma, who became the costliest uncapped signing of the WPL 2026 auction. The Gujarat Giants bought her for ₹45 lakh, making her one of the most talked-about young talents of the day.
Following is the list of most expensive uncapped players in the WPL 2026 auction:
| Players | Team | Price |
| Anushka Sharma | Gujarat Giants | ₹45 lakh |
| Prema Rawat | Royal Challengers Bengaluru | ₹20 lakh |
| Triveni Vasistha | Mumbai Indians | ₹20 lakh |
| Sanskriti Gupta | Mumbai Indians | ₹20 lakh |
For unversed, Anushka Sharma is a rising cricketer from Madhya Pradesh known for her powerful batting and handy off-spin bowling. Over the past year, she has impressed consistently in domestic cricket, which explains the intense bidding war for her at the auction.
She started with a base price of just ₹10 lakh, but Gujarat Giants and defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) both showed strong interest. RCB bid as high as ₹40 lakh before Gujarat finally secured her for ₹45 lakh.
At just 22 years old, Anushka has already built an impressive record. She has a List A batting average of 63.00 and struck at 125.00 during the Senior Women’s Inter-Zonal T20 Trophy in October, where she played for Central Zone. Notably, she also had a solid season for Madhya Pradesh in the Senior Women’s T20 Trophy.
The second-most expensive uncapped player at this year’s auction was Prema Rawat, who was picked up by Royal Challengers Bengaluru for ₹20 lakh.
For context, the most expensive uncapped player in WPL history is still Kashvee Gautam, who was bought for a massive ₹2 crore by Gujarat Giants during the WPL 2025 mini-auction after a fierce bidding battle with RCB and UP Warriorz.
