It was a busy day for WPL franchises on Thursday, where 277 players went under the hammer, and only 67 stars were lucky enough to find a place in the teams for WPL 2026, set to begin from January 9.
The day was full of surprises, beginning with Alyssa Healy going unsold. Meanwhile, Shikha Pandey became the talk of the town after fetching 2.4 crores despite no game time since WPL 2025.
Similarly, several names took massive salaries back home, and this article will shed light on players with the biggest jump in WPL salary.
1. Sajeevan Sanjana - 400% rise
The biggest jump in salary for WPL 2026 is for Mumbai Indians' new recruit Sajeevan Sanajana. The 30-year-old represented Mumbai Indians in WPL 2025 and was retained in the previous season for just 15 lakh rupees.
However, for WPL 2026 auction, MI had a clear plan in mind that they will target players from their previous squad and bring back the ones they let go because of the mega-auction retention policies.
Meanwhile, Sanjana has been rewarded because of her consistent performance and was bought for 75 lakhs during the auction. If we calculate and do the matches, then it is a 400% rise from her previous salary, the most significant rise for any player during WPL 2026 mega-auction.
2. Shikha Pandey - 300% rise
The biggest surprise of the auction night was Shikha Pandey bagging a whopping 2.40 crores during the auction. Notably, Pandey will play for UP Warriorz and look to replicate her WPL 2025 heroics.
Notably, several teams were interested in Pandey and it led to a bidding war for the 36-year-old. Interestingly, in WPL 2025, Pandey played for Delhi Capitals in the first three seasons and earned 60 lakhs.
Her salary has seen a significant rise of 300% from the past edition as she will now be earning 2.40 crores for WPL 2026. It is the second biggest rise in salary during WPL 2026 auction.
3. Amelia Kerr - 200% rise
Among the overseas cricketers, Amelia Kerr has seen the biggest salary rise as the star Kiwi has seen a 200% rise in her salary. Overall, she is 3rd on the list as Kerr, who was earning 1 crore during WPL 2025 with Mumbai Indians will now be earning 3x her salary for the upcoming season.
The defending champions bought Kerr back during the auction for a whopping 3 crores, seeing a 200% rise in her salary.
4. Shree Charani - 136% rise
Shree Charani played for Delhi Capitals at a price of just 30 lakhs. Following the season, Charani was released from the squad and bought back by the Capitals for WPL 2026 at a whopping price of 1.30 crores, a crore more than her previous salary.
Notably, for the unversed, Charani ended up as DC's biggest buy in the auction alongside Chinelle Henry. Now with Charani earning 1.30 crores, it is a rise of 136%.
