India's veteran leg-spinner Amit Mishra has offered his support to KL Rahul amidst his recent slump in form, advising him to tune out the noise and concentrate on improving his skills as a batter.

The Karnataka batter's prolonged slump in the longest format of the game has attracted intense scrutiny, with former Indian cricketer Venkatesh Prasad expressing doubts about his selection in the Indian team.

Rahul, who has been stripped of the vice-captaincy for the last two Tests of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2023, has also failed to score big in the first two Tests against Australia.

In an exclusive conversation with Sportskeeda, Amit Mishra opened up on the matter, stating that KL Rahul is the kind of player who works hard on his game and should continue grinding hard in the nets to improve his batting.

"It differs from player to player. As much as I have seen him practise with me, he works really hard on his game. I would advise him to focus on cricket and not on what is being said."

"He has worked hard for the past 4-5 years and has earned his place in the team so I feel he should continue to focus on his process and also switch off when needed. He just needs to go to every nets session and decide to improve his batting by 2-4 percent."

With a string of poor outings, KL Rahul's position in the team has come under the scanner. However, Indian captain Rohit Sharma and head coach Rahul Dravid have assured that they will back him in this series.
