Yashasvi Jaiswal has hammered five half-centuries and a ton this IPL 2023 season. With 625 runs to his name, the youngster is currently placed at number four in this year’s ‘Orange Cap’ race.

At times, he even outscored his dynamic opening partner Jos Buttler and was one of Rajasthan Royals’ driving forces for their success in the early stages of the tournament. Despite his best efforts, Sanju Samson and co. failed to qualify for the IPL 2023 playoffs.

However, Jaiswal certainly won over some fans, with the most prominent of them being former South African skipper and all-time IPL legend AB de Villiers.

De Villiers believes Jaiswal has credentials to become great

RCB legend AB de Villiers was all praise for Yashasvi Jaiswal during a recent show on JioCinema. The former South African captain was asked to name his favourite player from the IPL 2023 season, where he preferred the young Rajasthan Royals opener over the likes of Shubman Gill, his former RCB teammate Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis.

AB de Villiers believes that Jaiswal has all the shots and looks calm and composed at the crease. He said:

"Yashasvi Jaiswal for me and by a long margin for sure. He is a young player and has got all the shots in the book. He has a calm and composed temperament at the wicket and I love what he does, dominating the bowlers and always looks like he is in control."

The South African also acknowledged Shubman Gill’s ‘Orange Cap’ winning performance, and stated that Jaiswal, while young, similarly has all the credentials to become one of the greats of the game going ahead.

"Shubman (Gill) is a little bit older, I think Jaiswal's got a long way to go, and he has all the credentials to become a great."
