The increased volume of cricket and expansion of T20 leagues has raised a major question around the durability of players across all formats of the games. The rapidly growing culture of fast-faced cricket has reduced the players to a format or two instead of being active across all three formats, including Tests, ODIs, and T20Is.
Though they are few in numbers, some youngsters have managed themselves to be prepared to play across all formats. They have showcased their brilliance across the formats to prove their worth in both red-ball and white-ball cricket at the international level.
That being said, here’s a look at the five young cricketers who seem to be fully prepared and built to serve across all formats.
Harry Brook: A sigh of relief for England amidst downfall
Amidst a string of downfalls across all formats, England can heave a sigh of relief to have a young batter in Harry Brook. The Keighley-born has impressed with his brilliant batting performances, be it in Tests and ODIs or in the T20Is. His arrival in the English batting lineup has resolved their middle-order conundrum for the next couple of years.

In the longest format of the game, Brook has scored 2993 runs and is just seven runs away from reaching the feat of 3,000 Test runs. He has scored these runs in 55 innings, with an average of 55.4, and a strike rate of 86.5, hitting 14 half-centuries and 10 centuries just in this three-year-long Test career.
In the 50-over format at the international level, Brook has scored 1170 runs in 35 innings, with an average of 36.56, hitting two centuries and six half-centuries. He also has a strike rate of 103.26, which is quite better compared to his contemporaries in this particular format.
He can play a crucial role for the Three Lions, both as batter and captain in the ODIs. Besides that, his blistering approach also plays a pivotal role in helping his side post a big total in the ODIs.
In the shortest format of the game, Brook has scored 1012 runs in 44 innings of the 52 matches he has played. The 26-year-old has an average of 30.66 in T20Is, alongside a strike rate of 151.72, hitting five half-centuries.
Yashasvi Jaiswal: Potential to serve India for more than a decade
The young batter Yashasvi Jaiswal has been in the list of the top performing batters for India since his international debut almost two and a half years ago in July 2023. He has played 28 Tests, four ODIs, and 23 T20Is since his first international appearance in the Roseau Test against the West Indies.
The 23-year-old has also left everyone awestruck with his brilliant consistency across all formats.

The UP-born Mumbai batter has amazed everyone with the sensational start of his Test career. He smashed a match-winning 171-run knock in his debut appearance against the Caribbean side. Following this masterclass, he enjoyed an amazing run against England in the five-match home Test series, scoring 712 runs in nine innings with an average of 89.00, hitting two centuries and three half-centuries. He also ended up as the leading run-scorer in the series.

When it comes to the quickest format of the game, he has scored 723 runs in 22 innings, with an average of 36.15 and a strike rate of 164.31, including a century and five half-centuries.
Marco Jansen: The all-rounder South Africa needed badly
After the departure of the former legendary all-rounder Jacques Kallis, South Africa were in a dire need of an all-rounder who can produce the productive outcomes across all formats. After waiting for quite long, the Proteas wait ended with the young and 6’8” giant all-rounder Marco Jansen.
The Potchefstroom-born is silently filling himself in the bigger shoes of Jacques Kallis as an all-format all-rounder. In Tests, he has bagged 89 wickets with the ball in 38 innings, with five four-wicket hauls, and four five-wicket hauls. With the bat, he has scored 624 runs in 32 innings, hitting four half-centuries.

Jacob Duffy: The consistent pacer for New Zealand amidst injury woes
The star New Zealand pacer Jacob Duffy (31) is on the borderline in terms of players’ age in this list, but his recent rise across the formats has attracted a lot of eyeballs. He got to play Test cricket in August 2025, almost five years after his international debut in 2020.
But the Otago pacer has impressed everyone with his quick rise across all formats. He also achieved a historic feat recently, becoming the leading wicket-taker in a calendar year for New Zealand, surpassing the former legend Richard Hadlee. Duffy has scalped 81 international wickets in 2025, outnumbering Hadlee’s 79 wickets exactly 40 years back in 1985.

In his five-year-long international career, the 31-year-old has featured for New Zealand in four Tests, 19 ODIs, and 38 T20Is. He has picked 25 wickets in just eight Test innings, including a four-wicket haul and three five-wicket hauls, alongside picking 35 wickets in 19 ODI innings, with an economy rate of just 5.90.
Besides these two formats, Duffy has also left an impactful mark in the T20Is, with 53 wickets in 36 innings, including five four-wicket hauls and a bowling strike rate of just 13.8.
The young Australian all-rounder Cameron Green recently became the most expensive player in the IPL 2026 mini auction. The KKR bid proved Green’s worth in the fast-paced format of the game. But it is not only the T20 format where he can make an impact, he has also been a vital asset both the bat and ball in the ODIs and Tests.
