It was a shocker for the World Champions England side as they succumbed to a defeat in the first T20I against Bangladesh after posting 156 on the board. Najmul Hossain Shanto took the charge for the home side and recorded his third T20I half-century.

Opposition skipper Jos Buttler after scoring an outstanding 67 admitted that they were around 20 runs short of the target they would have liked as they lost wickets in a flurry. He further commented that the Bangladeshi batters did put them under tremendous pressure forming some crucial partnerships in the middle that they were unable to break.

Moreover, the right-hander revealed that he very much expected the wicket to be slow and low, something he was already preparing for. However, according to him, they could have defended the score had gotten some more runs in the bank.

"I think Bangladesh finished the innings well, we were in a position to really kick on and launch at the end, but we couldn't get away. We were probably 20 runs short of where we would have liked to have been with our score and that meant we chased it a little bit in the field,"

"I think the pitch was much as expected, low bounce and a bit slow, but it played pretty well and was consistent throughout the game and if we had those extra runs on the board, it would have been easier."

After taking a 1-0 lead, Bangladesh will next face England in the second T20I to be played on 12th March.
