Rohit Sharma, Hardik Pandya Have a Banter Over 'Watering' Pitch Too Much

Ahead of Gujarat vs Mumbai clash, during the coin flips, both captains - Hardik Pandya and Rohit Sharma - were seen taking cheeky digs at each other regarding Ahmedabad's pitch watering.

During the toss, Mumbai Indians' captain jokingly said that it seems that the pitch at the Narendra Modi Stadium was hard till Monday, but now they (Gujarat Titans) have watered it a bit extra. Responding to Rohit's query, GT's skipper said we had watered it just enough.

Interestingly, when a pitch is watered more, it tends to give extra assistance to the faster bowlers up front, which would be more helpful for the home team as they have a better seam-bowling department.

"Yesterday it was looking nice and hard but there's some water there (chuckles). Just want to make best use of the conditions since there's a bit of moisture there," Rohit said at toss.

"I think so (chuckles on asking about whether it is a good pitch). It looks like a good pitch. They have been watering it enough, but has been a belter of late," Pandya responded to MI captain.

At Ahmedabad, the five-time champions won the toss and asked the home team to bat first on a pitch they think would be a batting paradise. However, if Rohit's claims are factual, then GT's trick of watering the pitch an extra bit could backfire on them.

For the upcoming clash, MI have opted for Kumar Kartikeya and Riley Meredith over Hrithik Shokeen and Jofra Archer, respectively. Meanwhile, GT have gone with the same team.
