After a lean patch between 2019 and 2022, Virat Kohli announced his presence back on the field, slamming as many as five centuries in the last seven months, cementing his stature even further in world cricket.

Kohli scored a majestic 186 in the fourth and final Test against Australia in Ahmedabad to shut down his retractors, who had criticised his lack of runs in red-ball cricket.

Former Pakistan player Mohammad Amir has lashed out at Kohli's critics. Amir and Kohli share a good off-the-field comradery, despite being the fiercest of competitors on the ground.

Amir is currently playing for the Asia Lions in the second edition of the Legends League Cricket Masters in Doha.

Speaking to the Hindustan Times, the 30-year-old said Kohli loves a good challenge and does not back out from putting those extra yards in the nets.

Here's what Amir said

"Who are these people who are criticising Kohli? I really don't understand. At the end of the day he is human. It's not like he has a remote and you press the button everyday and you get a hundred and Kohli will win the match for India,

"And you can never doubt Kohli for his hard work. He loves challenges. Every time he has been criticised, he has bounced back to prove them wrong."

Amir further stated that India has a good chance of winning the ICC World Test Championship final against Australia and that he sees Mohammed Siraj taking over the mantle from Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami in red-ball cricket.
