India's star batter Suryakumar Yadav, on Thursday (September 22) dropped an update on Jasprit Bumrah's fitness, stating that the senior pacer has completed his recovery and is ready to take the field in the second T20I against Australia, set to be played on Friday in Nagpur.

Interacting with the media in the pre-match conference on the eve of the second T20I against Australia, Suryakumar Yadav shed light on Bumrah's availability in the Nagpur encounter confirming:

"Bumrah is fit and ready to play in the second match."

The ace pacer was recently added to India’s squad for the T20 World Cup 2022 and the ongoing series against Australia and the upcoming one against South Africa. The pace spearhead was ruled out of the entire Asia Cup 2022 due to a back injury.

As for the series opener, Bumrah didn’t feature in the match as the team management did not want to push him immediately into the action especially considering the fact that he is making a comeback after an injury lay-off.

However, the hosts truly missed the speedster in Mohali on Tuesday (September 20) as they failed to defend 208 runs and went on to concede a 1-0 lead to Australia in the three-match T20I series.

Suryakumar Yadav Backs Harshal Patel & Bhuvneshwar Kumar

The Mumbai Indians batter further defended Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Harshal Patel following their abysmal bowling performance in the first T20I, stating their slower balls are pretty deceptive and it troubles the batters often.

"Bhuvi and Harshal's slower balls are deceptive and very difficult to get. Harshal has just returned from the injury, let us cut him some slack."

Team India to Continue Aggressive Approach

India’s new batting approach has been the subject of the cricket gossip mill for months now. Weighing in on the same, the stylish batter stated that everyone is playing their role and knows their responsibility.

"Assessing the pitch is very important. Everyone knows their responsibility and roles in the team. Openers know their role. After the openers, the middle order knows its role. Everything is going well. We will try to do the same thing again."

India’s aggressive approach reaped handsome dividends for the team in the series opener as the Men in Blue went on to post a daunting total of 208 for the loss of six wickets even though the top order batters Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli were dismissed cheaply.
