Domestic legend Darren Stevens guided Kent to set-up a quarter-final clash against his former side Leicestershire in the Royal London Cup. Stevens scored 49 runs against Lancashire, as his County Club chased 296 runs with one ball to spare last evening.

Stevens is playing his final season at Kent County Cricket Club (KCCC) after the management decided to release the much-loved player.

In the ongoing County Championship season, the 46-year-old managed just four wickets, while scoring 148 runs in five games.

Stevens expressed his disappointment on not being retained but confirmed that he would play next season, refuting rumours that he will head towards retirement.

"My job is to take wickets and get runs for Kent, so that's what I'll do until I finish. I want to [play next season]. I still feel like I've got a lot to give. I feel like I'm hitting the ball well and the ball's coming out alright, so I feel like I can do a job for a club somewhere. I'd like a player-coach role but at the moment I still feel I can do a job with the bat and the ball." - Kent told ECB Reporters Network
