New Zealand all-rounder Kyle Jamieson is nearing full fitness after being out of cricket due to an injury in June. Jamieson suffered a stressful reaction to his back during the second Test at Trent Bridge when the Kiwis visited the English Isles for a three-match series.

Due to the injury, Jamieson missed New Zealand's European tour, comprising limited-overs series against Ireland, Scotland, and the Netherlands. The lanky bowler also missed the West Indies tour.

However, head coach Gary Stead confirmed that the 27-year-old is nearing full fitness and expects him to be back with the Blackcaps side soon.

"Kyle's very, very close to starting bowling again. He's been back in the gym and doing a few batting sessions as well and he's at the stage of his rehab right now where he is starting to really get going.” - Stead was quoted by stuff.co.nz

Since making his debut in 2020, the 6ft 8-inch bowler has wreaked havoc over batters in red-ball cricket. The visiting Indians were at the receiving end during the pacer's debut series, where he scalped nine wickets.

Ranked ninth in the ICC Rankings for Test bowlers, Jamieson was the quickest to 50 wickets for New Zealand, ahead of legends like Shane Bond and Chris Martin.

Jamieson was also the ICC World Test Championship Final Player of Match, where New Zealand won the inaugural trophy beating India at Lord's in 2021.
