Indian opener Yashasvi Jaiswal was forced to retire hurt after scoring a magnificent century against England in the ongoing third Test in Rajkot.

Jaiswal, who has been in sublime form throughout the series, delivered yet another impressive performance, scoring 104 runs off 133 balls, including 9 fours and five sixes before walking off the field.

IND vs ENG: Jaiswal retired hurt after scoring a century

His innings came to a premature end due to what appeared to be back spasms, causing concern among the Indian supporters and earning applause from both teams, including England's coach, Brendon McCullum, who acknowledged his century with appreciation from the English dugout.

Jaiswal's hundred, his third in Test cricket and second in this fiercely contested series, was a perfect example of careful and attacking batting. His knock under tremendous pressure showed once again why he is considered a future star for Indian cricket.

The opener's innings was particularly crucial after India lost Rohit Sharma early, finding themselves in a dismal position.

However, Jaiswal, along with Shubman Gill, mounted a strong recovery, amassing a 155-run partnership for the second wicket, which not only steadied the Indian innings but also helped them establish a commanding lead.

Despite the setback of losing Jaiswal, India's position in the match looks dominant, with the scoreboard reading 189/1 after 45.3 overs, leading England by 315 runs. With Gill and Rajat Patidar at the crease, India will aim to further solidify their advantage and set England a massive target as they eye to take a 2-1 series lead.
