Hardik Pandya has been subjected to severe online and on-field criticism from Rohit Sharma fans off late. The star all-rounder was even jeered by the Ahmedabad and Hyderabad crowd in his first two appearances as Mumbai Indians captain this IPL 2024 season.

The situation somehow worsened for the 30-year-old when his Mumbai Indians troops travelled back to Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium for a home game against Rajasthan Royals. However, in a rare first this tournament, no boos were heard at the venue during Mumbai Indians’ April 7 clash against Delhi Capitals.

Fans, who wanted to dish out similar treatment to Pandya during the toss, wondered if the sound was purposely blocked by the stadium authorities.

Several Rohit Sharma fans are of the opinion that the Wankhede Stadium officials applied sound blockers to prevent crowds from booing Hardik Pandya during Mumbai Indians match against Delhi Capitals.

In a first this IPL 2024 season, Pandya was not taunted by the crowds when he walked out to the field during toss time.

Moreover, the Mumbai Indians franchise also brought over 18,000 kids to attend the match at the stadium on April 7 as part of the ESA initiative. Apparently, some fans believe that the management brought in the kids to avoid Pandya from being booed and jeered.

Regardless, under Hardik Pandya’s leadership, the Mumbai Indians franchise is yet to secure a single win this IPL 2024 season. Currently placed at the bottom of the points table, the match against Delhi Capitals marks a must-win for them in order to gain some momentum in the first half of the tournament.
