Travis Head has been in superb form in the 2021-2023 World Test Championship (WTC) Cycle and now in the all-important WTC Final, he has unleashed his might again. Head showed his full range on Day 1 of WTC final as he smashed a century off just 106 balls to become the first centurion in the history of the WTC Finals.

He came into bat at number 5 when Australia were in a spot of bother at 76-3 but straightaway started playing shots and brought the pressure back on India. He had Smith alongside him and though the former Australian skipper struggled at the other end, Head played a fluent knock. He got to his century with a pull off a short ball as India tried to bounce him out when everything else looked ineffective against the Southpaw.

This is the first century for Travis Head outside of Australia and he has made it even more special by delivering on the biggest stage of the purest form of cricket.

Earlier, Indian skipper Rohit Sharma won the toss and decided to bowl first in the hope that his bowlers would make early inroads in overcast conditions. Siraj got rid of Usman Khawaja early, and Warner and Labuschagne also could not build on their starts. However, Head and Smith have build-up a century stand now, and at the time of writing, Australia are 238-3 at the end of 65 overs.
