Hardik Pandya will captain even if Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli or anyone returns: Aakash Chopra 

Hardik Pandya will India in T20Is against Sri Lanka

On the expected line, the Board of Control for Cricket in India appointed Hardik Pandya as India's T20I captain in their upcoming series against Sri Lanka next month. 

Pandya will be Rohit Sharma's deputy in the ODI series that follows, which has the likes of Virat Kohli and Surya Kumar Yadav.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, former India opener turned commentator Aakash Chopra said that Pandya would have been India's T20I skipper even if the veterans were available.  

An unnamed BCCI official also revealed that Pandya could also be appointed India's ODI captain looking past Rohit.

Here's what Chopra said

"The big news is that Hardik Pandya has become the T20 captain. I feel Hardik Pandya will be the captain even if Rohit, Kohli or anyone is available. Rohit was unavailable and no one is telling about Kohli, because the selection committee hasn't said anything about who they have rested and who they have dropped."

The three T20Is between India and Sri Lanka will begin on January 3 and occur across three venues — Mumbai, Pune, and Rajkot. While Guwahati, Kolkata, and Thiruvananthapuram will be the hosts for the three-ODI series starting January 10.
