After South Africa's first Test match win against Zimbabwe by a gargantuan margin, the Proteas are all set to take on the Zims as seen by their stand-in-skipper Wiaan Mulder already setting the tone for the match with a fabulous ton.

Starting Day 1, Wiaan Mulder seemed pretty confident as he scaled to his century in 116 balls. However, not only is his ton attractive but the skipper, who was called to lead because of Keshav Maharaj's injury, also scaled a milestone to topple a massive Proteas record.

After his century, Mulder is still at the crease at the time of writing, however, as he surpassed the 109-figure, he shattered a massive record for South Africa. The all-rounder became the highest individual scorer in the first Test innings as a captain for South Africa surpassing Herbie Taylor's 1913 record against England. Wiaan Mulder scored 110 off 131 balls to achieve this feat.

Mulder Holds Fort After Shaky Start

At the time of writing, South Africa is dominating proceedings on Day 1 of the second Test against Zimbabwe, reaching 205/2 in 47.4 overs. After Zimbabwe won the toss and chose to bowl first, the Proteas found themselves in early trouble at 24/2, losing openers Tony de Zorzi for 10 and Lesego Senokwane for just 3.

However, captain Wiaan Mulder has led a strong fightback with a superb unbeaten century, while David Bedingham is providing excellent support with 81* off 90 balls.

The Zimbabwe bowlers, despite a disciplined start, are struggling to break the third-wicket stand which has already produced 181 runs. Tanaka Chivanga and Wellington Masakadza have taken one wicket each, but South Africa now looks firmly in control.
