India put on a spectacular batting display and posted a mammoth score of 351/5 in 50 overs in the third and final One Day International (ODI) at the Brian Lara Stadium in Tarouba, Trinidad.

WI vs IND 3rd ODI: How did India's innings pan out?

Kishan & Gill make their mark

Having been rested for the final game, senior pros Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli watched from the sidelines as young openers Ishan Kishan and Shubman Gill took charge.

After a disappointing second ODI, the duo stitched a magnificent 143-run partnership in the first 20 overs, laying a solid foundation.

While the marauding left-hander struck a blistering 77 off 64 balls, Gill played a more composed innings of 85 off 92 balls.

Middle-order’s counterattack: Samson and Pandya shine

After the opening blitz, Sanju Samson walked in with unmistakable intent, playing an exquisite innings of 51 off 41 balls, lighting up the stadium with his trademark sixes. Ruturaj Gaikwad's early exit did not dent the Indian progress as the middle order's robustness shone through.

Captain Hardik Pandya's captain's knock, an unbeaten 70 off 52 balls, mixed caution with aggression. Together with Suryakumar Yadav's swift 35 off 30 balls, they ensured India's reach to a massive total.

West Indies bowlers feel the heat

West Indies bowlers, usually potent in home conditions, appeared bereft of ideas against the Indian onslaught. Despite Romario Shepherd's decent figures of 2/73, the bowling unit lacked incisiveness.

The absence of effective spinners was particularly felt, and the hosts' fielding seemed a step behind, unable to throttle the Indian momentum as they posted a massive target for the hosts to chase.

Expectations from the chase

The home team will be banking on a strong start, with the weight of expectations resting on the top-order's shoulders. For West Indies to have any shot at chasing down this colossal total, their experienced players will need to contribute significantly against India's potent bowling lineup.

On the other hand, India will be strategizing to strike early with an aim to break West Indies' momentum and quash their hopes of chasing the score.

Brief Scores

India: 351/5 (50)
Shubman Gill 85 (92), Ishan Kishan 77 (64);
Romario Shepherd 2-73 (10), Gudakesh Motie 1-38 (10)

West Indies need 352 runs to win.
