The West Indies would prefer to start the T20I series, scheduled to begin on August 3 in Trinidad, with a clean slate after their dismal performance against India in the series-deciding ODI.

The West Indies turn into ravenous lions whenever they play a T20I match, despite possibly experiencing the most challenging time in their cricket history. Nicholas Pooran, who recently hit an unbelievable 55-ball 137 in the MLC 2023 final, will be back in the national colors, with Rovman Powell taking the charge in the shortest format.
In addition to Pooran, Jason Holder, who sat out the ODIs, will also be back in action.
The West Indies' decision to include Shai Hope in the squad was the most unexpected decision they made. The 50-over captain for the hosts had not participated in a T20I since February 2022, but his recent ODI performance against the Men in Blue, in which he also had an impressive strike rate, may have compelled the board to give him another chance in T20Is.
The spotlight will also be on Shimron Hetmyer, vice-captain Kyle Mayers, and Alzarri Joseph, who have all achieved tremendous success in franchise events around the world.
India
Despite all the hype, Yashasvi Jaiswal might not get his maiden cap from India right away. Tilak Varma, however, has a good chance of receiving the same, as the Men in Blue do not have many choices for their middle order.
Shubman Gill and Ishan Kishan will almost certainly open, followed by Suryakumar Yadav, the top-ranked T20I batsman, and the relentlessly hungry Sanju Samson.
Yuzvendra Chahal is anticipated to get a chance in the T20Is after sitting out all three ODIs. Arshdeep Singh, Axar Patel, Mukesh Kumar, and Avesh Khan are probably preferred first to complement him, with Hardik also an option if necessary.

Nicholas Pooran has accumulated 416 runs at a strike rate of 132.48 after 15 appearances, giving him an impressive T20I average of 32 against India. Without a doubt, he poses the greatest threat to India, as evidenced by his recent performance in the MLC 2023.
