After the conclusion of the two-match Test series, hosts West Indies are set to lock horns with their Indian counterparts in a three-match ODI series starting this Thursday. West Indies have recently had an abysmal run in international cricket, failing to qualify for the ODI World Cup scheduled in India later this year. On the contrary, India got a great start to the third WTC cycle and will be raring to extend their dominance to ODIs in the Caribbean islands. As the iconic Kensington Oval in Barbados gears up to host the first ODI of the series, let's see how the pitch is expected to behave during the encounter.

Kensington Oval, Barbados Pitch Report

The surface at the Kensington Oval in Barbados will offer enough assistance to the seamers early on, with the new-ball bowlers getting decent seam movement and some extra bounce. However, the track will settle with time, eventually favouring the batters with the game's progression.

Being a traditional Caribbean track, the surface traditionally offers good pace and bounce. It won't likely be a sluggish track, so the batters can get some runs under the belt after neutralising the new-ball threat. Meanwhile, the spinners aren't likely to get excessive grip and turn from this deck.

The teams batting second have enjoyed stellar success at the venue, winning 25 matches as compared to only 19 by those batting first. So, it will be an ideal ploy for the toss-winning side to bowl first at the venue.
