Sudharsan unreal catch [Source: @CricInformer/x.com]
Short leg is the most difficult place to field in a Test match, as the fielder has little time to react, and he has to have killer instincts to grab the ball. This instinct was shown by India’s Sai Sudharsan during the second Test match against the West Indies, as he grabbed an unreal catch to dismiss John Campbell.
After India piled on 518/5 in their first innings, the visitors had a daunting task as they needed to bat sensibly, but Campbell’s ferocious shot was taken cleanly by Sai Sudharsan, as the Indian player took an unreal grab that defied all laws.
West Indies stunned as Sudharsan grabs an unreal catch
Ravindra Jadeja bowled a fuller length ball as the West Indian batter swept it hard with full force, with Sudharsan standing at short leg. He ducked quickly and kept his hands in front of his chest as the ball somehow stuck in his hands. Campbell was shocked, but the Indian dressing room found the moment to be hilarious.
The fielder was taken off the field as he looked in immense pain after ball was hit with brute power and he almost put his body on the line for the grab.
Dream Test match for Sudharsan
Sudharsan has been outstanding on the field as he played a huge role in the dismissal of the West Indian batter. However, on Day 1, he finally showcased his batting prowess as the left-handed batter played a gritty knock, and just missed out on a deserving ton.
Alongside Yashasvi Jaiswal, he tormented the West Indian attack and scored a brilliant 87 off 165 balls and laid a solid platform for captain Shubman Gill, who, too, slammed his 10th Test ton to punish the visitors.
