IND vs ENG 2nd ODI: Pitch Report

Pitch Report by Deep Dasgupta & Graeme Swann: "It is a hot and humid afternoon here in Cuttack. This has been a high-scoring venue and it's a smallish venue as well. 63m to my right and to my left it is 64m, the staright hit is also not that long, it is 73m.

Swann: What England would want to think here is they batted first in the first game and failed to manage to post a 300-plus total. This surface is not as hard as the last pitch we played on. There are a lot of cracks. I think, if the seam hits these cracks, it will move either way.

While the sun is out, I think this pitch will skid on but there won't be much bounce. But when the spinners come on in the last 30 overs of the first innings, I think this will turn. There is dew as well later on in the evening that might make it better to bat. A pretty good pitch. You have to get a lot of runs in the first innings, to have a chance of winning this game.

Dasgupta: It feels a bit abrasive. Which makes me feel, under the sun, it will turn and it might slow down a little in the second half of the first innings. Especially from the three spinners they played in the last game, you might want to bowl first here at Barabati Stadium. "
