Why Is US Skipper Monank Patel Not Playing Against South Africa in T20 World Cup 2024?

United States skipper Monank Patel will miss out on the first game of the Super Eight stage of the T20 World Cup 2024 in their game against South Africa. This marks the second occasion where his team will be missing out on his services.

In his absence, just like their game against India, Aaron Jones is the stand-in skipper, as was evident during the toss. It has been understood that Patel is suffering from a niggle, because of which he missed out on the previous game too.

His absence is a big blow to USA, not only for his leadership skills but also what he brings to the table with the bat at the top of the order.

However on a brighter note for the US, they did win the toss at Sir Viv Richards Stadium and opted to bowl first against Aiden Markram and Co.
