In a significant development, Delhi Capitals (DC) won the toss and opted to bat first in their third group-stage match against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the ongoing IPL 2025 season. At toss, DC skipper Axar Patel stated that his side would bat first in order to utilise Chennai's playing conditions.
Why Is Faf du Plessis Not Playing In CSK vs DC?
Meanwhile, Axar Patel revealed that veteran batter Faf du Plessis wouldn't participate in the high-octane clash against CSK. Faf, who used to be a vital cog in the CSK camp, has looked sublime in the IPL 2025 so far.
In two IPL 2025 innings, Du Plessis has struck 79 runs at an average of 39.50 and a strike rate of 175.56. His exclusion is certainly a massive setback for DC, considering his red-hot form and experience of playing at Chepauk.
The veteran batter sustained a niggle, which ruled him out of the much-awaited CSK vs DC face-off. Young batter Sameer Rizvi has replaced the South African great in DC's playing XI.
Meanwhile, CSK have made two changes to their combination. While reliable batter Devon Conway replaces Jamie Overton, Mukesh Choudhary has been recalled, with Rahul Tripathi making way for him.
