It's the double header day on Sunday as the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 will witness the classic battle between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and the Mumbai Indians (MI) at the iconic MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai. The two teams won the IPL five times and will look to add a sixth in their kitty.

For the El Classico, CSK win the toss and Ruturaj Gaikwad elected to bowl first on a surface which could get better as the game progresses. Captain Ruturaj announced the name of four foreigners in the playing XI and surprisingly, there was no mention of their star player, Devon Conway.

Why Devon Conway was dropped for IPL match Vs MI?

  • Devon Conway was the star of the CSK side as they captured their fifth title in 2023. He scored more than 600-runs and was instrumental in their title win. However, as of late, he has not been in form and was also dropped from the New Zealand playing XI in the Champions Trophy.
  • That is because the Kiwis preferred the in-form Rachin Ravindra in the playing XI and CSK have also gone on the same route as they trust in Ravindra and have gone in with someone who is going through a purple patch.
  • Plus, on the Chepauk wicket, Ravindra's left-arm spin could be useful and he could be their trump card with the ball in hand.
