Rachin Ravindra gets his first Champions Trophy century [Source: AP]
Rachin Ravindra has been in sensational form in the ongoing Champions Trophy 2025. During the semi-final match between South Africa and New Zealand at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on March 5, he scored a brilliant century--his first-ever in the Champions Trophy.
The star batting all-rounder reached his hundred in just 93 balls. This was also his fifth century in One Day Internationals (ODIs).
Rachin Ravindra Gets His Century In Style
The moment came in the 32nd over of New Zealand’s innings when Kagiso Rabada delivered a good-length ball on the pads. Rachin Ravindra flicked it past mid-wicket and had enough time to run two, reaching his well-deserved century. He took off his helmet, raised his bat to acknowledge the standing ovation from his teammates, and received a warm hug from Kane Williamson.
This was a special knock for Rachin, as it marked his 5th ODI century in just his 28th ODI innings for New Zealand. Interestingly, all five of his centuries have come in ICC tournaments, proving his knack for delivering on big stages.
NZ Looking To Build Great Score On Board
Earlier in the match, New Zealand won the toss and decided to bat first. It turned out to be a good call, as they built a solid innings despite losing Will Young for 21 runs. Kane Williamson and Rachin Ravindra then steadied the innings with a strong partnership.
At the time of writing, New Zealand are going strong at 212 for 2 in 33 overs.
