David Warner, arguably one of the most successful foreign players in IPL is going through a tough time as of late.

The opening batter, who is a part of the Delhi Capitals squad, has blown hot and cold throughout IPL 2024. Injury has also hampered his season, and the explosive batter has missed quite a few games this season.

Why Warner has been dropped from DC's playing XI vs GT

When the toss took place for the DC Vs GT IPL clash, Rishabh Pant dropped a bombshell and revealed that Warner has been left out of the playing XI. Pant didn't mention the exact reason for Warner's absence, but it is speculated that the Aussie batter is going through a rough patch and struggled to put runs on the board.

In 7 matches this season, Warner has accumulated 167 runs, with just a solitary 50+ score to his name.

Another reason could be the rise of Jake Fraser-McGurk. The young Aussie batter has taken the league by storm and has been DC's most explosive batter in recent matches. The new opening pair of Prithvi Shaw and Fraser-McGurk provide a different dynamics and perhaps DC has decided this is the way to go.

Talking about DC, they are at 8th position in points table and need to win the match against GT to stay alive in competition.
