India's Champions Trophy 2025 Campaign In Jeopardy; Team Not To Travel To Pakistan

Team India's Champions Trophy 2025 campaign could be in jeopardy as the Rohit Sharma led side won't be travelling to Pakistan for the mega event.

As per recent reports, the Champions Trophy could witness the hybrid model, which was used during the Asia Cup, last year. Pakistan were the original hosts for the Asia Cup 2023, however, due to political tensions between India and Pakistan, Sri Lanka was added as the second host and Team India played all its matches in the Islan nation, including the final.

There is also a possibility of the change in venue, meaning that the hosting rights could be snatched away from Pakistan.

India won't travel to Pakistan

“Forget bilateral series…Team India may not even travel to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy. There might be a change of venue, hybrid model is also possible,” a BCCI source revealed to IANS.

“The Indian board would need permission from the government for travel, currently our relations with Pakistan are not that good either,” sources told IANS. “Champions Trophy is an ICC event, so it would be a tough call for India but nothing without the government’s order/green signal. Bilateral series, I don’t see in the near future, that’s next to impossible," the source added.

It has to be noted that the two teams only play each other in ICC tournaments, and the bilateral ties have also been cut-off since the famous 2012 series, when India hosted Pakista for a limited-overs series.
