The final of the Deodhar Trophy is currently underway in Pondicherry between South Zone and East Zone. South Zone are currently batting in the first innings against East Zone. Featuring in his first tournament in six months, Rohan Kunnummal scored a fine 68-ball century, while captain Mayank Agarwal also contributed with a half century.
The 25-year-old Kunnummal, who represents Kerala in domestic cricket, is a right-handed opening batter and occasional right-arm off-break bowler.
Rohan was born in 1998 in Palakkad district of Kerala, to father Sushil S. Kunnummal, an entrepreneur, and mother Krishna M, a Bank Manager. His cricket journey commenced with his father, a cricket enthusiast and former cricketer, providing him initial training. At the age of nine, Rohan began honing his skills at the Sussex Cricket Academy in Kozhikode. He later pursued a B.A. degree in English literature at Malabar Christian College, Kozhikode.
Rohan scored a 162 against Goa in the 2016-17 Vinoo Mankad Trophy, and an unbeaten 253* against Delhi in the 2016-17 Cooch Behar Trophy. He has also played the Challenger Trophy.
Rohan made his List A debut for Kerala in the 2016–17 Vijay Hazare Trophy, his Twenty20 debut in the 2018–19 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and his first-class debut in the 2019–20 Ranji Trophy.
He was Kerala's second-highest run-scorer in the 2021-22 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, scoring 168 runs from 5 matches including two half-centuries. That same season, he top-scored for Kerala in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, with 264 runs from 6 matches, and also scored his maiden first class century against Meghalaya in the Ranji Trophy. He is also the first Kerala cricketer to score three consecutive hundreds in the Ranji Trophy.
In November 2022, Rohan earned his maiden call-up to India A team for Bangladesh tour.
