Archer Threatens India With Searing Pace In 1st Over In Tests After 4 Years

After Chris Woakes bowled an ordinary first over and conceded 13 runs, England captain Ben Stokes brought Jofra Archer at the other end on expected lines. The fast bowler, who played his last Test way back in 2021, recently made his comeback to the format after recovering from a series of career-threatening injuries.

He seemed to be beaming with confidence as his first ball clocked 141 kilometres per hour. He pulled his length back slightly, surprising Jaiswal with a 138KPH corker in his next delivery.

Archer's third delivery raised a million eyebrows as he breached the 145 KPH mark, inducing an edge on Jaiswal's bat. His extraordinary effort resulted in a crucial breakthrough for England, with Jaiswal making his way back to the dugout for thirteen runs.

As Karun Nair entered the middle, Archer greeted him with a sharp bouncer that clocked 151 kilometres per hour. His final two deliveries exceeded the 140 KPH mark, as he delivered them at speeds of 147 and 145 KPH, respectively. Thus, he recorded an average speed of 144.5 in his very first over in Tests after a four-year gap.

The fast bowler has consistently hit the 140 KPH mark, showcasing supreme form and fitness upon his much-anticipated return to Test cricket. He has made the new ball talk, troubling the Indian batters with sheer pace and seam movement.

After Archer dismissed Jaiswal, Karun Nair joined KL Rahul in the middle. As of writing, India were 27 for one, with Rahul and Nair batting on 9* and 5*, respectively.
