Rishabh Pant injured his left index finger on the opening day of the Lord's Test and had to walk off the field in pain. He did not keep wickets for India in the rest of the innings, and there are doubts whether he will be able to bat or not.

Pant Provides Mixed Signals During Net Session At Lord's

At the start of Day 2, BCCI revealed that Rishabh Pant is still recovering from injury, and as a result, Dhruv Jurel would continue to keep wickets. However, Ankan Kar, currently the Chief Correspondent of Sports Now, has now revealed that Pant went out to bat in the nets during the fag end of England's innings.

It raised hopes of Pant ready to bat in India's first innings, but soon an update followed, which stated that Pant is still in pain. Ankan Kar also posted on his official X handle that a fan asked Pant whether he has recovered or not. In reply, the Indian wicketkeeper clearly mentioned that the injury has not healed and he is trying his best.

A fan asked - "Rishabh Bhai..Aapka Hath thik ho gaya hai."

Rishabh Pant - "Nahi Bhai, Abhi Try kar rha hu."

Risk Of Injury Aggravation Looms Large

Thus, it seems that Rishabh Pant would find it difficult to bat at least in India's first innings. There is no clarity about the intensity of his injury, but he would not like him to aggravate his injury by risking himself in the first innings.

If he does bat and ends up doing it in pain, it could put his participation in the rest of the series in doubt which would be a big blow to India. The wicketkeeper batter has been in great form in the series so far, with hundreds in both innings of the first Test. Rishabh Pant also scored a fifty in the second Test, and his aggressive instincts would be crucial for India in the rest of the series with Gill and co. looking to create history.
