Rajasthan Royals (RR) middle-order maverick Riyan Parag continued his excellent run in the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 for Assam in the pre-quarterfinal game against Bengal on Tuesday (October 31). Parag dominated the Bengal attack for another aggressive half-century in a must-win clash for his team.

Moments after Parag blasted his fifty off just 31 deliveries in Assam's successful run-chase of Bengal's paltry 138/8 in 20 overs, the attacking right-hander was seen indulging in a unique celebration. The cricketer gestured the opposition was not at his level to trouble him or to create any strangleholds on his batting.

Parag stood there with his bat held upwards for the milestone towards the Assam changing room and waved his right hand in a gesture that said: "These guys aren't on my level!!". It was a statement from a player who has been in imperious touch since the beginning of the Indian domestic season for 2023-24.

Riyan Parag's Aggressive Celebration

The 21-year-old, who had earlier bagged the eye-catching record to become the men's player with the most half-centuries on the bounce after producing his sixth consecutive fifty in the tournament, now stands with a whopping 490 runs in his eight innings of the SMAT.

Parag has carried a spectacular strike rate of 189.18 to back his bumper tally of runs while rising in stature as a part-time spin bowling option with 11 scalps in his eight innings at an economy rate of just 6.96. Assam's biggest match-winner has been leading his troops from the front, showcasing maturity beyond his years and proving his naysayers wrong.

Parag, who is often criticised over social media, has smashed a remarkable 30 fours and 39 maximums in his eight knocks of the tournament, including two fours and four sixes in the innings versus Bengal, which finished with the young gun unveiling a unique celebration.

The 21-year-old gestured that his opponents weren't a match to his standards and that he deserved a greater challenge on board. Such has been Parag's command and belligerence on display, the celebration didn't feel out of place or echoed any sense of misplaced arrogance.
