The Melbourne Stars are playing against the Sydney Sixers in the ninth match of the WBBL 2024. The match is being played at the North Sydney Oval in Australia.
The Stars won the toss of the match and opted to bat first. The Indian star Yastika Bhatia was a part of the Melbourne Stars playing XI in this match. She joined the team after her international duties for India in the ODI series against New Zealand.
The Indian wicketkeeper opening batter was seen opening for the Stars. Notably, Yastika Bhatia played a steady knock at the top, giving the team a solid foundation. The Southpaw scored 36 runs from 28 deliveries.
Bhatia treated Ellyse Perry like a club level bowler
During her stay in the middle, Bhatia slammed to beautiful maximums. The first of these sixes came against the Australian great Ellyse Perry in the eighth over. On the fourth delivery of the over, Perry bowled a full ball at the middle and leg stump line. Bhatia picked the line early and set himself up for a big hit. She slammed the ball over the mid-wicket region for a massive six. The shot resembled the mid-wicket heave of the Indian great Yuvraj Singh.
Returning to the match, the Stars put on a brilliant team effort while batting. Meg Lanning was the standout as she anchored the innings and scored 58 runs off 36 deliveries. Rhys McKenna played a fiery cameo in the lower middle order, scoring 52 runs off just 22 deliveries. The Stars posted a formidable total of 195/4 in their 20 overs.
At the time of writing the Sixers have lost two wickets in the chase with just 20 runs on the board.
