[Watch] Yashasvi Jaiswal's Torrid Run Continues As Rabada Castles Him For A Duck

Yashasvi Jaiswal's disappointing first Test tour of South Africa continued through to the first innings of the New Year's Test in Cape Town as the young Indian opener was out inside, edging one onto his stumps against ace speedster Kagiso Rabada

Jaiswal, who found life difficult against the lateral movement and disconcerting bounce extracted by the Proteas seamers in the Boxing Day Test in Centurion, was out early once again in Newlands after entering the trip with high hopes of making his mark.

The inexperienced Mumbaikar was done in by steep bounce on this occasion after failing to control a defensive push off the backfoot against a short-pitched delivery from Rabada.

Trying to defend the ball with his weight pushed backwards, Jaiswal could only manage to edge it back onto the three sticks and bagged an embarrassing duck off his seven-ball stint in the middle.

Rabada Gets Jaiswal, Gives South Africa A Sniff

For Rabada, it was the most critical early breakthrough after Indian pacers had turned the tables on the dominant hosts and dismissed them for a jaw-dropping 55 all out. The third lowest first-innings total ever made in Cape Town in Test cricket.

Desperate for a morale-boosting start, the hosts turned to their spearhead, and he didn't disappoint again, getting rid of India's talented opener Jaiswal, for whom it was his third consecutive failure of the two-match series.

As the inside edge fell onto the stumps, Jaiswal looked frustrated as the 21-year-old was dismissed without opening his account after scoring just 17 and 5 in the first Test in Centurion.

The young batter will be hoping to make amends in the second innings and leave the South African shores with a happier memory to take forward with him into his next Test outing for the country.
