Pakistan players showcased great spirit in giving Australian opener David Warner a memorable guard of honour as he arrived at the crease for the first innings of the New Year's Test at the iconic Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG).

As the swashbuckling opening batter retires from the Test after the completion of the five-day fixture, he was given a special welcome by the opposition team, who lined up on either side of him and greeted him with a round of applause along with the packed crowd.

In a series played in wonderful spirits by both sides, Pakistan once again stole the cricket fans' hearts with a lovely gesture towards the veteran left-hander. Even Warner appreciated the act and thanked skipper Shan Masood with a handshake while carrying an expression of gratitude for the fans.

Pakistan's Guard Of Honour To Warner

Warner arrived in the middle with his usual routine undertaken of touching his late friend and teammate Phil Hughes' image near the Australian dressing room and sprinting towards the ground with great energy and passion.

Even for his final Test match, Warner appeared ever so keen for the challenge and intent on scoring big runs. Just before he reached the playing square, however, the cricketer received a special guard of honour from the Pakistan team.

All 11 members of the opposition side stood up and clapped for the Aussie giant as he walked in for the one last time at the SCG - his home turf, being a New South Wales lad, who will be determined for one big knock before bidding farewell to the format.

The explosive left-hander also smashed a boundary off the very first ball he faced at the crease before the umpires called stumps for Day 1 in the third and final Test of the series, with Pakistan having posted 313 earlier in the afternoon.
