India and Pakistan are currently playing against each other in the fifth match of the Champions Trophy 2025. After initial shocks, Pakistan have recovered well courtesy of a steady knock of Saud Shakeel. 

Notably, the skipper of the Pakistan team, Mohammad Rizwan has ably supported Saud Shakeel and the duo has got the team back into the game after the two intital wickets.

Shadab Khan has been one of the integral members of the Pakistan team for quite some time. However, due to the lack of his form with both the bat and the ball, he has been out of the main scheme of things recently. Shaud Shakeel with his ability to play stably in the middle-order and bowl effectively in the middle overs, he has replaced Shadab in the side.

Inference: In his so far, natent ODI career Saud Shakeel has impressed in a few innings. However, if we look at the batting stats of the two players, the south paw has a better record than the veteran all-rounder.

Inference: Shadab Khan's role was more of a bowling all-rounder and hence he has better numbers than Saud Shakeel. However, in the little that he bowled in ODIs, he has done a good job. 

Conclusion

Saud Shakeel with his fifty in the match against India has proven that he can play under pressure and deliver in the big matches. Though Pakistan has not used Shakeel too much as a bowler, he can be handy with the ball too. Given that his career is still in the early stages, Saud Shakeel has the potential to fill the shoes of Shadab Khan and probably do better than him.
