KL Rahul is an important player for India in the middle order and has played some crucial knocks in World Cup 2023 which includes a match-winning knock against Australia in the World Cup opener.  However, in the game against South Africa at Eden Gardens, he failed to deliver as he departed for just 8 after struggling for 17 deliveries.

The wicket of Rahul was a result of some disciplined bowling by the Proteas as both Rahul and Kohli failed to get going after Shreyas' dismissal.  Rahul tried to break the shackles but paid big price as Rassie van der Dussen in the deep took a brilliant sliding catch.

It was a length delivery from 'round the wicket by Marco Jansen angling into middle and KL Rahul tried to swipe it away with the angle. It looked like he hit it well initially but did not get enough power behind his shot and ended up hitting it towards deep backward square leg where Rassie van der Dussen ran swiftly to his right and took a brilliant sliding catch.

It was the fourth wicket for India and was a crucial blow as India look to accelerate at the death.
