Virat Kohli and Naveen-ul-Haq exchanged smiles, handshakes, patted one another and eventually brought curtains to their rivalry during India’s World Cup 2023 showdown against Afghanistan in Delhi. At one point, Kohli even urged his home crowd at the Arun Jaitley Stadium to stop trolling the Afghan speedster during the fag end of the Indian innings.

Prior to his gesture, the overenthusiastic Delhi crowd trolled Naveen throughout the contest by constantly chanting ‘Kohli Kohli’ whenever the cricketer took field near the boundary line. Moreover, the speedster was also welcomed to the crease with thunderous roars across the stadium in favor of their local hero.

Virat Kohli arrived to the crease in Delhi in front of his home crowd with a thunderous applause. With India needing another 117 by the time of his arrival, the cricketer still found time to smear a near run-a-ball 55* to take his side home with 15 overs still intact in the game.

However, during the Indian innings, Kohli urged his fans at the stadium to stop trolling Naveen-ul-Haq. The two players were even seen patting each other’s back and shared a seemingly friendly conversation in the middle.

Remarkably, this is not the first time Virat Kohli has urged a section of a crowd to stop mocking or hurling abuses at an opposition player at a World Cup stage. During India’s Group Stage match against Australia at the 2019 edition, the legendary batter advised crowd against the mocking of then-underfire cricketer Steve Smith.

Virat Kohli, along with the rest of his Indian teammates, will now go up against arch-rivals Pakistan on October 14. Their much-awaited duel is slated to be hosted by the iconic Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
