India's stand-in captain Jasprit Bumrah had a memorable outing with the ball, as he dismantled Australia with a sensational bowling spell in the first Test against Australia at Perth Stadium. Opening the bowling for India, Bumrah got the prized scalps of Usman Khawaja, Nathan McSweeney and Steve Smith before outfoxing Pat Cummins with an absolute ripper.
The incident occurred during the 25th over of Australia's first innings when Cummins was trying to build a consolidating stand alongside wicketkeeper-batter Alex Carey. However, India's stand-in skipper Bumrah brought himself back into the attack and dismissed his Australian counterpart with a magnificent delivery.
From over the wicket, Bumrah bowled a full-length delivery that shaped away from Cummins after pitching around the off stump.
As the right-handed batter tried to play a defensive shot, the ball took the outside edge off his bat and went straight to the wicketkeeper. Rishabh Pant did no mistake, claiming a simple catch behind the stumps.
The dismissal brought the aggressive best in Virat Kohli, who celebrated the wicket with loud cheers in the slip cordon.
Australia Fall Flat After India's Shambolic Performance
After winning the toss and opting to bat first, India were lacklustre with the bat, as the Aussies struck at regular intervals to restrict them to a paltry total. In response, India have been clinical with the ball so far, scalping seven crucial wickets and pushing the hosts down on the mat.
At the time of writing, Australia were 67 for seven, with Mitchell Starc and Alex Carey batting on 6* and 19*, respectively.
