Riding on Rohit Sharma's fireworks, India got off to a desirable start in the all-important World Cup final in Ahmedabad. Despite losing Shubman Gill cheaply, India has kept the run rate up, thanks to Sharma's glorious stroke play. After taking on Josh Hazlewood initially, Sharma unleashed his beast mode on Mitchell Starc, hammering him for a massive six over long off.

After being put into bat first, India had a solid start, as Rohit Sharma took on the Australian bowlers after negotiating the good deliveries. The Indian captain's moment of glory came when he dispatched Starc for a six just after he dismissed his opening partner Shubman Gill.

The incident occurred in the fifth over when Australian captain Pat Cummins brought Starc back in pursuit of a breakthrough. Although the speedster succeeded in his mission, he was demoralised by Rohit's monstrous hit on the final ball of his over. It was a half-volley outside the off stump, as Rohit smashed it over the long-on for a gorgeous six. He earned massive applause from Virat Kohli, who seemed pumped up after he played the shot.

As of writing, India are 61 for one in 7.4 overs, with Rohit and Kohli batting on 35* and 21*, respectively.
