Batting Or Bowling; What Will India Do First In Final? Ahmedabad Pitch's Latest Image Surfaces

In a high-voltage face-off, India will lock horns with Australia in the 2023 World Cup final on Sunday at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Meanwhile, the surface at Ahmedabad has grabbed the attention, with all focus shifting to it before the clash.

A day before the final, the image of the Ahmedabad pitch has gone viral on social media. While Indian skipper Rohit Sharma inspected the track closely, his Aussie counterpart Pat Cummins clicked a few pictures of the same on his phone.

Veteran batter Steve Smith and Australia's spin bowling coach Daniel Vettori also checked the surface on Saturday afternoon. So, as both teams seem puzzled on the Ahmedabad deck, let's see what they might prefer doing first here on Sunday.

As per the latest image, the surface in Ahmedabad looks to be made of black soil. However, it doesn't have a real grass covering, so we don't expect the seamers to get seam movement early on with the new ball. The pace and bounce is expected to be even, aiding in stroke play.

However, as a sunny day is predicted in Ahmedabad for tomorrow, we expect the wicket to get dried up, eventually offering significant assistance to the spinners.

The pitch might play slightly better under the lights, but considering it's a high-pressure game, both teams would be eager to capitalise on the batting-friendly conditions in the afternoon and bat first upon winning the toss.
