The Champions Trophy 2025 final between India and New Zealand at Dubai International Cricket Stadium on March 9 turned into an unforgettable spectacle. Kuldeep Yadav stepped up when India needed him the most, delivering crucial breakthroughs in a high-stakes match.

After dismissing Rachin Ravindra in his first over, Kuldeep continued his magic by taking the key wicket of New Zealand’s captain, Kane Williamson, in his next. This moment not only put India in control but also led to a hilarious reaction from Virat Kohli.

How Kane Williamson Fell to Kuldeep Yadav

The big moment happened during the 13th over of New Zealand’s innings. Kuldeep bowled a flighted delivery at 81.9 kmph, which stuck slightly on the surface. Williamson, trying to push the ball towards mid-on, mistimed his shot, resulting in a leading edge. The ball looped straight back to Kuldeep, who took an easy catch, sending Williamson back for just 11 runs.

As soon as the wicket fell, Team India erupted in celebration. But it was Virat Kohli’s reaction that stole the spotlight. Overcome with joy, Kohli hugged Kuldeep Yadav from behind, jumping in excitement, and almost planted a kiss on him in front of his wife, Anushka Sharma. The moment was caught on camera, leaving fans in splits.

India Dominate against New Zealand

With three quick wickets, India had New Zealand on the back foot. Earlier, New Zealand won the toss and opted to bat first. Openers Rachin Ravindra and Will Young provided a solid start, but Varun Chakaravarthy struck first, dismissing Young. Then, Kuldeep Yadav’s double strikes further tilted the match in India’s favour.

At the time of reporting, New Zealand are at 88 for 3, with Tom Latham and Daryl Mitchell at the crease.
