A box-office knock came to an end on Saturday’s high-voltage World Cup 2023 encounter between Australia and New Zealand, taking place at HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala. Travis Head was the man, having struck 109 off just 67 deliveries before Glenn Phillips cleaned him up with a skidder.

Having smashed 10 fours and seven sixes, Head tore the Kiwi attack apart from left, right, and center. Phillips, who earlier got the big wicket of David Warner, came into the attack to bowl the 24th over of the innings.

Phillips bowled a 90.4 kph quick delivery towards the middle stump, which Head, on the back foot, tried to play through offside. However, the southpaw failed to connect the ball altogether before it struck the stumps, making him leave the field in a sorrow manner.

Phillips was pumped after the dismissal, and rightly so. While all Kiwi bowlers were dispatched right from the beginning of the innings, the all-rounder removed both set batters in quick succession to bring New Zealand back in the game.

At the time of writing, Australia are going strong, having reached 209/2 in 26 overs.
