In a thrilling Group D match of the T20 World Cup 2024, right-arm fast bowler Taskin Ahmed gave Bangladesh an early breakthrough against the Netherlands.

Playing at the picturesque Arnos Vale Stadium on June 13, Taskin Ahmed dismissed Netherlands opener Michael Levitt in the fifth over, bringing a crucial halt to the Dutch chase.

Bangladesh set a competitive target of 160 runs for the Netherlands. Taskin Ahmed, renowned for his pace and accuracy, delivered a game-changing moment with a well-executed 140.3 kmph delivery.

It was a shorter ball outside off, and Levitt, attempting to slash it over the inner circle on the off side, only managed to get a top edge.

The ball soared towards the cover point, where Towhid Hridoy, positioned perfectly, moved a couple of steps back and safely grabbed the catch.

Levitt's promising knock ended at 18 runs off 16 balls, and the Netherlands were left at 32 for 1 at the close of the sixth over.

At this critical juncture, Max O'Dowd and Vikramjit Singh took the crease, aiming to stabilize the innings and steer the Netherlands towards the target.
