Bangladesh opener Tanzid Hasan certainly relished his warm-up time on his journey towards 2023 World Cup. The dynamic southpaw commenced his preparation by blasting 84 for Bangladesh in their emphatic seven-wicket win over Sri Lanka. Turning up for his side in their final warm-up fixture prior to the tournament, the cricketer flayed England’s new-ball attack at the top with a blistering 44-ball 45.

Hasan even smoked Reece Topley for a huge six off the very first ball of the match to signal his early intentions for the defending champions. To make matters worse for Topley, Hasan’s stamp of authority came off a no-ball, which was already a free-hit owing to the speedster’s early jitters in the game.

England players were slated to face World Cup 2023 hosts India in Guwahati’s Assam Cricket Association Stadium on September 30; however, their planned meeting was washed out owing to ceaseless rains in the city at the time. Jos Buttler’s troops stayed on at the venue for their subsequent warm-up challenge against Bangladesh, which went underway on October 2.

Bangladesh, fresh from their warm-up win over Sri Lanka, won the toss and opted to bat first against the defending champions. Their dynamic opener Tanzid Hasan made his aggressive intentions clear from the outset as he bludgeoned England pacer Reece Topley for a thumping six over his leg side off a free hit in a seemingly first legal delivery of the match.

Unfortunately for Topley, the ball was also a no-ball, and he bowled another wide a few moments later to make it a nine-ball over upfront.

Topley eventually fought back with early wickets as he dismissed Litton Das for just five and number three Najmul Hossain Shanto for just six within the powerplay.

Tanzid Hasan, however, went ahead and belted a near run-a-ball 45 in his boundary-laden knock in Guwahati.
