The ongoing International League T20 (ILT20) is star-studded with a plethora of superstars from around the world who are going against each other in the UAE. In the just-concluded match between Abu Dhabi Knight Riders and Desert Vipers, the former team's skipper displayed brilliance with the ball in his first over.
It all happened during the eighth over of the chase when Knight Riders' captain Sunil Narine brought himself into the attack, and the plan worked immediately as he removed the opposition's opener, Alex Hales, who was already struggling at Abu Dhabi's Sheikh Zayed Stadium with just 10 runs off 16 deliveries he faced till that moment.
Narine bowled a delivery that was pitched outside off, and Alex tried to play a scoop but only managed to find the top edge that was easily caught by fine-leg Alishan Sharafu.
Hales only put pressure on his side as he never really got going, which caused his side to look for someone to score runs for them quickly. Meanwhile, Narine bowled a decent spell of 1 for 29 in his four overs.
Lawrence, Curran Take Vipers Home
Despite the early struggle of openers, the Vipers, chasing the target of 167, finished the game with eight balls and seven wickets to spare. Thanks to Daniel Lawrence and Sam Curran, who smashed 70 and 50, respectively, they managed to earn the victory and earn crucial points for their side.
Earlier, Knight Riders were able to put on 166 on the board courtesy of high-flying Phil Salt, who banged 71 without losing his wicket after opening the innings for his side. He was ably supported by middle-order batters Alishan Sharafu and Andre Russell.
