[Watch] South African Girls Break Down In Tears After Defeat In The U19 T20 World Cup 2025

On Sunday, South Africa Under 19 women locked horns against India U19 women in the final of Women's U19 T20 World Cup 2025. It was a heartbreak for the South African girls as India registered a handsome nine-wicket win to clinch the important trophy.

Notably, South Africa, batting first, tumbled for just 83 runs on the board. Gongadi Trisha was the pick of the bowlers for her three-wicket haul. In reply, Trisha also shone with the bat as she played a crucial 44-run knock that saw India celebrating their success. 

While India were celebrating on one side, South African players were devastated and heartbroken by the embarrassing defeat. Further, videos have gone viral of the South African girls breaking down on the field given the nature of the defeat. 




South Africa Unlucky In Finals

Trisha won the Player of the Match award in the final and also bagged the Player of the Tournament award in the 2025 ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cup for scoring 309 runs in seven matches and taking seven wickets.

Past couple of years have been tough for South African cricket as they have managed to reach the finals, but tumbled at the very last and have fallen short in the finals. Notably, South Africa men lost the finals of T20 World Cup 2024.

Further, the women lost the 2024 T20 World Cup final and also suffered a defeat in the finals in 2023. Now, South Africa men have also qualified for 2025 WTC final where they will face Australia at Lord's.
