Shubman Gill's wicket proved to be a pivotal moment in the ongoing test match between India and England on day four. Gill, who has been struggling with his form in recent tests, departed for a silver duck, adding to the challenges faced by the Indian side.

The day belonged to Ollie Pope, whose magnificent innings of 196 runs off 278 balls provided crucial momentum to England's innings. Resuming at 316 for 6, Pope's stellar knock left the Indian bowlers struggling to make an impact. His performance played a significant role in England posting a fighting target on the board.

As the second innings began, India found themselves facing a daunting task of chasing down 231 runs to secure a 1-0 lead in the five-match series. The need for solid partnerships became evident as the Indian team embarked on what promised to be an intriguing chase.

The turning point came in the 12th over when Tom Hartley made a significant impact by dismissing both Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill.

Gill's departure for a duck marked a crucial setback for India. Hartley's flighted delivery tempted Gill to push hard, but a superb catch by Ollie Pope at silly mid-off ensured Gill's early exit.

The sensational grab by Pope, combined with Hartley's effectiveness in that over, brought England right back into the game. Gill's disappointment was palpable as he walked back to the pavilion, having failed to contribute to India's run chase.

At the time of writing, India is 48/2 in 14 overs, needing 183 to win.
